what kinda grill? the kind you cook steaks on or the kind that traps
you inside the house when fire breaks out in your home?
Seriopusly I have to agree with you on this Jay.
Since I am not much of a traveller, could anyone point out here countries
other than Malaysia that have prisons as a house?
With my limited visits to Thailand and Singapore, I noticed that these two
neighbour of us do not have that iron bars around all doors, windows and any
available openings, like what we have in Malaysia.
Instead of having criminals behind bars, we have law-abiding people put
behind them damn bars, 24/7 at their homes and offices!
mamatd.
Mamatd, I got aluminum grills inside my windows which are not visible
externally because the glass panels are tinted. In fact I often stand
behind the closed windows and make faces at my nasty neighbours.
In S'pore all the HDB flats come with standard grills for front door
and windows. Over there cat burglars climb in either thru the bathroom
windows or, if they are really pint-sized, through the rubbish chute.
You can sometimes see padlocks on rubbish chute doors. So if there is
a fire in a HDB flat, the small occupants can go down the rubbish
chute or out the bathroom window ... some ten stories up.
As for Thailand, all the BARS don't have bars. Hahahaha. No, I have
not been to any of the bars in Thailand because mrs chiew is right now
reading this as I type. :-)
Back to Malaysia. During the Japanese occupation of Malaya, people
could leave their front doors open at night and no thieves or robbers
would wander in.
The reason was that the Jap soldiers would execute on the spot, anyone
found stealing or robbing. They would then decapitate the dead fellow
and impale his head somewhere prominent to serve as deterrent.
Ahh. The good ole days.
